Since 1995, Women’s Enterprise Centre has answered over 28,000 inquiries for information. We have conducted over 22,000 business advisory sessions with more than 6,500 BC women seeking business advice.

Sherry Moir has been an entrepreneur for the majority of her career, intermittently spending a little time working for the federal government. She considers herself to be a serial entrepreneur who sometimes takes breaks to bring entrepreneurial insight to government processes.
The experience she’s gained from working inside and outside the government is what brought her to launch her most recent business, Opening Doors Business Development Network based from her home in Sidney, BC.
“By staying awake and aware, I’ve been able to identify new market trends and capitalize on opportunities. I've been successful in modeling behaviour which has enabled me to stay slightly ahead of the curve,” acknowledges Moir. Her business provides private consulting with small business owners who are interested in growing their businesses by expanding their markets into new regions and with organizations seeking government support.
When Moir was just a fledgling entrepreneur starting her first business, she often looked to successful entrepreneurs and community leaders to offer her advice. Understanding how important it is to have guidance and support as a new business owner, Moir will be giving back what she once received by facilitating a Peer Mentoring Group for Women’s Enterprise Centre.
“My mentors have taught me to take the time to think; I often jump to conclusions and am quick to respond, sometimes too quick! My mentors alway encourage me to take the time to weigh through a situation and really measure the results of my actions in advance,” says Moir. “My mentors are interested in my life, my business and my well-being and encourage me to be the best person I can be for me. I hope to give back some of that support by becoming a mentor myself.”
