Women's Enterprise Centre Keeps DJ Queen Spinning Discs!

It's almost impossible to reach Linda Enos these days. It is June, and her thoughts are on wedding bells. Not hers, but her clients'. It's wedding season, and for every wedding, there's a reception and that very special first dance.

"I love this time of year. There's nothing better than approaching wedding season," said Enos. Her business, Party Central DJ Services in Langley, British Columbia, is booked to the hilt.

"March 23rd was the last weekend I had off until the middle of October," Enos said.

Enos spent 15 years in the industry before deciding to go on her own. Two years ago, she came to Women's Enterprise Centre looking for a loan to buy the business. Women's Enterprise Centre provided her with the financing she needed.

Now Enos is making that money work for her. In the last year alone, her profit jumped 39 per cent. That has given her the ability to hire on a few contractors and draw a full-time income.

Enos said the financial assistance has been tremendous, but it is Women's Enterprise Centre's counselling support that's really made a difference to her and her business.

"I never would have done a cash flow forecast if Women's Enterprise Centre hadn't set it up for me," she said. "Last year I saw that I spent $9,000 on CDs. Now when a bride asks for 20 CDs I don't have, I'll only buy five!"

Enos expects she will have to make some big business decisions this year. It could mean buying more equipment and locating more DJs just to respond to the demand. Enos doesn't mind. The sound of her phone ringing is like music to her ears.
